| Mark Goldsworthy to meet with the LGA on Council candidates disclosing their history | Email this page | | Back | RADIO TRANSCRIPT Radio interview with Mark Goldsworthy MP, Shadow Minister for State/Local Government Relations. ABC Radio South East SA reporter, Stan Thomson reports that Campbelltown Council is considering making it mandatory for (Local Council) candidates to submit criminal history checks with their nominations. Mark Goldsworthy, Opposition Spokesperson for Local Government, says the Council's suggestion that candidates with a criminal record shouldn't be able to run for office at all was 'a bit harsh'. He says a database of these candidates could be a good idea. Goldsworthy says he wants to meet with Felicity-ann Lewis, President, LGA, to discuss the issue. He says the adversarial nature of State and Federal Government ensures we know candidates histories but says it is different on a local level. © Media Monitors 2010 - ABC South East SA (Mt Gambier) Limestone Coast Mornings - 17/05/2010
